Who they are

Exousia is a medium-sized band established in 2018 and led by Colin Providence. Its first presentation, Dominion, came out for Carnival 2019.1 Providence puts the emphasis on "customer care and quality, as all our production is done locally."1 The mas camp is on Picton Street in Newtown, Port of Spain.2

The band is competitive too. Secrets of Tanchico placed second among medium bands in the 2026 Uptown (UCIC) judging, on 220 points.3

Carnival 2027: Legends of Mas

For 2027 Exousia looks back at the people who shaped modern mas. Legends of Mas was launched at the Lions Cultural Centre in Port of Spain, and its six sections pay tribute to bandleaders and designers including George Bailey, Peter Minshall, Wayne Berkeley, Jason Griffith and Raoul Garib.1 For a first-timer it is a neat way into Carnival history: look up these designers' famous bands before you play and you will see the road with fresh eyes.
