SPIRIT Mas

Who they are

SPIRIT Mas is one of the newer all-inclusive bands on the road. Founder and bandleader Adrian Scoon launched it with Kingdom of SPIRIT for Carnival 2024, saying "We are a band created by masqueraders for masqueraders."¹ The second presentation, Spirit Island, followed for 2025 with nine sections.² On Carnival Tuesday 2026 the Express singled the band out for its attention to detail, its hospitality and its after party.³

Carnival 2027: LORE

For 2027 SPIRIT presents LORE: The Story of a Mythical Forest, and this one is a treat if you love Trinidad folklore. Each of the nine sections is tied to a character from the old stories: Mama D'Leau, the Soucouyant, La Diablesse, the Lagahoo, Gang Gang Sarah, Anansi, the Douen, Papa Bois and the Heartman.⁴ The band built up to the LORE launch with The ARTE is Love Weekend, a series of events at NAPA in Port of Spain from 9 to 12 July 2026.⁵
